To network or not to network, is that the question?

When I started my business a few short months ago, I didn't know much about networking, but nevertheless I threw myself at it wholeheartedly, with no idea where it would lead or what I would gain from it. I already had lots of friends and a family behind me who supported me 100%.
What I have gained though, is so much more than I expected! An ever-increasing group of fabulous ladies who are all each other's cheerleaders day after day, supporting each other through the highs and the lows.
Was I expecting to make new friends through networking? Not really, I guess I thought I would just make contacts, chat to people and quickly gain lots of clients! I have learned though, that networking can be a slow burner; building trust, support and friendship takes time.
You need to show up consistently, listen, learn and empathise. Sure, I talk about my business but I'm also learning about everyone else's amazing businesses. I love sharing my passion and enthusiasm for what I do but more importantly I love forming relationships with other, like-minded people. Business is growing slowly, thanks to the support and cheerleading I have received.
So, if you are thinking about networking, my advice is to not wait any longer, get over yourself, try a few, you'll soon find your tribe!
